Cataracts
Cataracts always occur as a result of presbyopia. New lens fibers form, while the old cells in the center of the lens become cloudy. This eventually leads to a lack of transparency, which is ultimately responsible for the deterioration in vision. Cataract patients most frequently complain of problems seeing in the dark. They then feel severely dazzled by light. Contrast vision also deteriorates and reading often causes great strain, resulting in watery eyes or even headaches.
In the best hands
Dr. Kretz is of course aware that cataract surgery is a very sensitive subject for most patients - after all, their eyesight is at stake. They should have the security and certainty of being in the experienced hands of an expert. Dr. Kretz has performed over 10,000 cataract operations in the last 3 years.
As an internationally recognized specialist in the treatment of cataracts, he has published over 100 scientific papers on this topic and is regularly invited as an expert to specialist events worldwide.

Claude Monet and cataracts
At the age of 72, Monet began to feel the effects of cataracts. Above all, the altered color perception caused him so much trouble that from then on he meticulously arranged his paint tubes and used the labels as a guide when choosing colors. He also gradually lost his visual acuity. Both are clearly reflected in his paintings from this period.
While Monet was working on the Water Lilies series (which also includes the example paintings of the Japanese Bridge), he went blind in his right eye. A few years later, the sight in his left eye also became so poor that he ultimately decided to have an operation, which was successful.
"Monet is only one eye, but what an eye."
Paul Cézanne

The path to the future
In addition to applied ophthalmology, Dr. med. Florian Kretz (FEBO) also regularly works in research in order to advance this in the field of ophthalmology and to be able to treat his patients with the most innovative and latest methods. The Precise Vision ophthalmologists' locations are renowned study centers whose research results and observational studies have received international attention. Depending on your clinical picture, you may have the opportunity to take part in such a study if you seek treatment from them. You would not only support current research, but also benefit from a potentially improved and more individualized treatment method.
